Just minutes north of Fergus and Elora is the village of Alma. Located in Mapleton Township, Alma is a quiet town, linked together by a strong sense of community. It has the appeal of neigbourhoods that are spread out on large lots, or rural properties and farms that stretch out in the sprawling countryside.

People here are part of a collective community, with events that center on bringing people together, coordinated by active volunteer organizations. Beautiful public spaces are nestled in the core of the town, like the playground and trails through Wallace Cummings Park, or the renowned Cow Palace, a place for a casual game of lacrosse or ball hockey in the summer, and an outdoor ice pad in winter, best known of the infamous Alma Plunger Toss, a social highlight on the community calendar that happens every February.

The boys and girls of summer take to the field at the Alma Ball Diamond each spring and summer, located next to the Alma Public School. Throughout the year, the Alma Community Centre is the venue of community dinners and celebrations. And small though it may be, the Alma Santa Claus Parade is a seasonal treasure, officially the final parade in Wellington County before Christmas.

Alma may be small but it is nestled in an ideal location in Wellington County, so close to the major centers for the conveniences of home, but just far enough away to feel away at the end of the day.
